An Orthopaedic consultant, Dr. Stuart Remer holds three decades of experience, during which he has developed expertise in spine-related disorders. To augment his work, Dr. Stuart Remer is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), which aims to improve patient outcomes across the United States.

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, AAOS has announced that it will begin collecting data related to the illness through its registry program. In collaboration with the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the initiative will pull data from the American Joint Replacement Registry and the American Spine Registry, among others.

AAOS claims that its registry program will allow medical groups to better analyze the spread of COVID-19 and its impact on patient care, alongside highlighting how this disease can affect joint replacement procedures.

To track COVID-19 cases, the registries will utilize the ICD-10 code, a new code that has been added to each of the registry’s systems specifically for the disease.
